Development Squad Programme
I was selected to participate in the Fonterra Development
Squad Programme in the second semester of my first year. This
programme is associated with the university's business school
case competition club - Management Consulting Club (MCC).
During the programme, I worked in a team of four on providing
and presenting a solution to six different business cases over
the course of five weeks.
Science and Innovation Competiton
This was an internal case competition held by the Management
Consulting Club in which I had to consult for a case based on Fisher
and Paykel Healthcare along with three others. We placed third for
this competition. Our presentation can be found here.
Brand Challenge
This was an internal case competition held by the Management
Consulting Club and sponsored by Mind Your Own Business (MYOB).
I worked alongside three others to come up with a fresh and innovative
marketing strategy for MYOB. We were selected as finalist in this competition
(top 4 out of 66 teams) and were commented on our creativity and
afforadable marketing strategy.
Short Term Project
This was a challenge held by Make a Difference with Economics (MADE).
I was put into a team of four where we were given a few weeks to present
a policy targeting obesity, an health issue facing the New Zealand economy.
Our proposal was to set price restrictions on certain foods deemed to be
unhealthy or high in cholesterol and other obesity-related ingredients.
We were chosen as finalist for this challenge and had to present our
research and findings on final's night.
MYOB IT Challenge
This was an internal case competition held by the Management
Consulting Club and sponsored by Mind Your Own Business (MYOB).
The aim of this competition was to come up with any IT solutions
related to the businesses of MYOB. I worked in a team of three for
this case and we were chosen as finalists for this challenge.
Our solution was a simple inventory management system (sims) that
enables users to keep track of their inventory levels.
First Year Case Competition
This was the first internal case competition I participated in.
It was targeted specifically for first-year university students and
we made it to the finals after three rounds of consulting and presentation.
Ideas Challenge
This was a $1k challenge held by Spark (now known as Velocity) - the
university's business school entrepreneurial programme. For this challenge,
I proposed the idea of INvolvement which is a not-for-profit voluntary training
program designed to help youth, the unskilled, the inexperienced potential workers
to gain the experience and skills employers are searching for.
$100K Challenge
This was a $100k challenge held by Spark (now known as Velocity) - the
university's business school entrepreneurial programme. For this challenge,
I worked in a team of two and we presented the idea of ORA, an affordable wearable
aiming to reduce the incidence of SIDS among Maori families, through a
culturally-resonant device and service model.
